3 Companies Innovating Their Way to Sustainable Logistics

Updated: Jun 3

As the commercial transportation sector continues to be one of the largest contributors to greenhouse gas emissions, companies are taking steps to reduce their carbon footprint. Here are three companies that are innovating their way to sustainable logistics:

Alpha Augmented Services

Alpha Augmented Services is a Switzerland-based startup that uses AI-based solutions to optimize supply chain inefficiencies and reduce waste. Their platform, OptiInsight, uses client data to pinpoint supply chain inefficiencies and quantify their financial and environmental impacts. Alpha's solutions, such as OptiShip, OptiPack, and OptiOrder, simulate millions of shipment configurations to ensure each shipment is optimized to use all available space.

CHEP

CHEP, a global provider of pallet, crate, and container pooling services, has launched an initiative called Zero Waste World. The program aims to work with other companies to improve operational efficiency, reduce costs, and meet sustainability goals. CHEP's circular business model, which shares, repairs, and reuses assets across the global supply network, is inherently more sustainable than single-use alternatives.

ReturnBear

ReturnBear is a cross-border reverse logistics platform that aims to simplify e-commerce returns while reducing fraud and landfill waste. Founded by former Shopify executive Sylvia Ng, ReturnBear offers a network of drop-off locations and hubs in local markets, consolidating shipments back to centralized brand warehouses. This approach reduces the need for shipping returns, resulting in significant cost savings and a reduced carbon footprint.

These companies are leading the way in sustainable logistics, demonstrating that innovation and sustainability can go hand in hand.
